A LA cover band formed in 1982, Slayer quickly leaned toward the death-metal end of the head-banger spectrum, with lyrics so offensive that Columbia declined to release their Reign in Blood album, forcing them to switch record companies. Toured with Anthrax and Megadeth in 1991's funny-in-retrospect Clash of the Titans tour.
